Very popular at Art and Cafe! About Yayoi Kusama's journey

Yayoi Kusama was born in Nagano Prefecture in 1929. She experienced visual and auditory hallucinations from an early age, which led her to create paintings with motifs of mesh and polka dots. These patterns have become synonymous with Kusama, and she is sometimes called the "Queen of Polka Dots." She has overcome various obsessions and discovered an artistic philosophy of self-annihilation through the obsessive repetition and proliferation of a single motif.

He moved to the United States in 1957 and established himself as an avant-garde artist by producing a variety of works, including net paintings, which are huge canvases of intricate mesh patterns, soft sculptures with male genitalia as a motif, installations and happenings using mirrors and electric lights, and body painting. In 1966 he participated in the 33rd Venice Biennale, while also using other media for expression, such as film production and newspaper publishing. After returning to Japan in 1973, he expanded the scope of his activities, publishing novels and poetry collections, and in 1983 he won the 10th Yasei Jidai New Artist Award. Since 1994 he has been creating outdoor sculptures all over the world, and his works can now be seen in city streets.
